Wireless Network Home Security

Wireless network home security systems are becoming more and more popular. Many people find them to be incredibly useful, and they offer you several different types of home security systems. As their name suggests, wireless home security systems are wireless – this means there are no complicated and difficult wiring tasks to take care of during installation. This means that you don't have to worry about accidentally nailing through any wires or cutting them should you hang pictures or do anything similar to your walls. Wireless systems are also much more mobile than traditional wired home security systems, allowing them to be much more flexible and convenient.

There are many different types of wireless network home security systems, just like their traditional wired counterparts. Wireless infrared motion detectors use a special sensor to detect infrared heat radiation that is produced by people and animals. When the heat is detected, then the motion detector is set off. You can find wireless systems that project a beam of light across a space – like a room, hallway, or doorway – to a photo sensor on the other side. When the beam of light is interrupted, such as when someone walks between the projector and the sensor, then the interruption is detected as motion and sets it off. These types of wireless home security systems are also good for under garage doors. When the beam of light is interrupted, then the garage door mechanism freezes and keeps the door from closing. This means that small children and pets are kept safe from the big, heavy garage door closing and landing on them.

Other wireless systems use ultrasonic waves to detect motion. The waves are transmitted throughout the space, and then bounce back to the receiver as echoes, allowing the system to detect motion. Wireless home security systems can also involve cameras. If you require a video surveillance system, then wireless may be the way to go. Connect your camera system to a motion detector to make it even more efficient. It will save on storage of tapes and recordings, because the motion detector will only trigger the cameras to record when movement is picked up. That way, you are not spending a lot of time and effort taping an empty screen with nothing there. You can also find wireless home security systems that turn on outdoor lights whenever movement is picked up. This will flood your yard or driveway with light if something comes within range of the sensors, which could be an intruder. Often, it will turn out that your lights got flipped on due to a small animal or someone's pet, but the peace of mind the lights afford you is worth it – if an intruder IS in the yard, then you will be able to see them clearly and prepare by arming yourself and calling the police.

Other wireless home security systems do the more traditional burglar alarm functions, but you can also get ones that are used inside the home to mimic the behavior of people. This is good for when you're away from home, because it will give the appearance of someone being inside even when there really isn't. One example is a system that causes the lights to go off and on at random. Random lights are better than those on a specific timer, because then no one watching the house can pick out a pattern and realize it's just a system.

No matter what type of wireless network security system you get, just make sure that they have enough range to cover the areas you need covered and they don't work on a frequency that interferes with any other wireless devices in the home, like Internet routers.
